Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Obertilliach is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 12.2 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. The family reputation of Obertilliach is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Obertilliach's altitude (1,430 m at the bottom, 2,248 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. At 48€, the day lift pass places Obertilliach among the mid-range resorts on price: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Obertilliach does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underestimated, that deserves to be discovered (or rediscovered).
