✍️ Our take on Monte Catria

Monte Catria is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 12 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for peace, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Monte Catria has kept the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. Here, people come for clean air, unspoiled landscapes and a warm, friendly atmosphere that contrasts with the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. The modest altitude of Monte Catria, with the base at 572 m and the summit at 1,478 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for good snow cover. Outside this window, checking snow reports before you leave is strongly advised. The 30€ day lift pass remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, Monte Catria suits those who want a good week without the final bill knocking them off their chair. In short: Monte Catria does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
