Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Mölltaler Gletscher focuses on warm hospitality and closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 36 km of runs are well suited to a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially for families or skiers who don't need to keep changing their playground. Technical terrain is king at Mölltaler Gletscher: with 26 black runs and 56 red runs on offer, confirmed skiers will find plenty to test themselves. Off-piste and freeride are practised here in often excellent conditions, thanks to the altitude and the exposure of the slopes. As for snow reliability, Mölltaler Gletscher is in a strong position with its summit at 3,122 m: even in capricious winters, the upper runs hold up well until April. The village at 2,108 m is also well located to offer comfortable conditions from mid-December. The budget for a stay at Mölltaler Gletscher is clearly high: 69€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: Mölltaler Gletscher doesn't compete with the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
