Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Lermoos is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 27 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Lermoos's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Lermoos's altitude (1,004 m at the bottom, 2,100 m at the top) keeps the snow reasonably reliable in mid-winter. January and February are the most dependable; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. A stay in Lermoos is clearly expensive: 68€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the priciest in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but be aware of it before you go. In short: Lermoos doesn't rival the giants of skiing and doesn't pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
