Did you know?
Lans pioneered a model: the “stade de neige” (snow stadium), a local resort with no accommodation, designed for day skiers with deliberately light facilities so as not to spoil the site. The concept officially took that name there in 1975.
Drag lifts were deliberately chosen over chairlifts there, for practical reasons, to keep prices affordable.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our verdict on Lans-en-Vercors

Lans-en-Vercors is a small, low-key resort, with 24 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. It's where people come for calm, authenticity and virtually no queues at the lifts. Lans-en-Vercors's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-run childcare, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It's one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for getting children started on skis. The resort's modest altitude, with the base at 1,020 m and the summit at 1,983 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for optimal snow cover. Outside that window, checking the snow reports before you set off is strongly advised. The day lift pass at 24€ remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, Lans-en-Vercors suits those who want a good week without the final bill knocking them off their chair. In short, Lans-en-Vercors is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a genuinely family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It's hard to have a bad stay here.
