La Mongie is a ski resort in the Pyrenees range, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. The ski area covers 100 km of runs between 1,800 m and 2,500 m, served by 28 lifts. Day pass 53€ per adult.

ℹ️ These figures refer to the Grand Tourmalet (Barèges – La Mongie) ski area, shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all. The figures shown here and on neighbouring resort pages therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they are not added together.
La Mongie was founded in 1945 with the installation of its first drag lift, on the initiative of the Cercle des sports de Bigorre. Now a modern resort at the foot of the Col du Tourmalet (2,115 m), it offers direct access to the Pic du Midi cable car (2,877 m) and its century-old astronomical observatory. Linked to Barèges since 1973, it forms with it the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees (100 km).
- Direct access to the Pic du Midi cable car

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
La Mongie offers 100 km of well-marked runs, a medium-sized ski area ideal for a 4 to 5 day stay without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 28 lifts are generally enough to handle the crowds in high season. La Mongie's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Pyrenees for children's first steps on skis. With a summit at 2,500 m and a village at 1,800 m, snow reliability at La Mongie is generally good from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause shortages early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. The budget for a stay at La Mongie is clearly high: €53 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: La Mongie keeps its promises. A Pyrenean resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.
🏔️ Grand Tourmalet – Pic du Midi
The largest ski area in the French Pyrenees, spread across both sides of the Tourmalet pass: Barèges on one side, La Mongie on the other. Barèges is a historic spa village whose waters already soothed the soldiers of Louis XIV; La Mongie, built in the 1960s, offers direct access to the runs and to the Pic du Midi. The latter is the ski area's unique attraction: a cable car up to 2,877 m, a century-old astronomical observatory, and an off-piste descent with 1,700 m of vertical drop for experienced skiers. The Tourmalet is also the most frequently used mountain pass in the history of the Tour de France.
