Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our verdict on La Colmiane

A resort on a human scale, La Colmiane focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 30 km of runs are perfectly suited to a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly renew their playground. La Colmiane's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Southern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. La Colmiane's modest altitude, with its base at 1,500 m and summit at 1,800 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the most reliable months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before departure is strongly recommended. With a day lift pass at just 22€, La Colmiane is one of the most affordable destinations in France. For families on a tight budget or skiers who want to get out on the slopes often without breaking the bank, it's a sincere and often overlooked choice. In short: La Colmiane doesn't compete with the giants of skiing and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
