✍️ Our view of L'Orient

L'Orient is a modest-sized, low-key resort: 6 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. L'Orient's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Jura for laying the foundations of skiing with children. L'Orient's modest altitude, with the base at 1,017 m and the summit at 1,283 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for optimal snow cover. Outside that window, checking the snow reports before you leave is strongly advised. The 32€ day lift pass remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, L'Orient suits those who want a good week without the final bill knocking them off their chair. In short: L'Orient doesn't rival the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
