Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
L'Abbaye is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 11 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. L'Abbaye's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It's one of the most reassuring resorts in the Jura for laying the foundations of skiing with children. L'Abbaye's modest altitude, starting at 1,010 m with a summit at 1,437 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the surest months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking snow reports before you leave is strongly advised. The day pass at 32€ remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, L'Abbaye suits those who want to spend a good week without the final bill knocking them off their chair. In short: L'Abbaye doesn't rival the giants of skiing, and doesn't claim to. It's an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
