Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Kappl prioritises the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 36 km of pistes are ideal for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially with family or for skiers who do not need to constantly renew their playground. Kappl has kept the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the unspoilt landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. With a summit at 2,690 m and a village at 1,175 m, snow cover in Kappl is generally reliable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly with the first substantial snowfalls. A stay in Kappl is clearly expensive: the day lift pass costs 67€, and on top of that come accommodation and high-altitude restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short, Kappl does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not claim to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
