Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Hoch-Imst is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 10.3 km of pistes for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. The family reputation of Hoch-Imst is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. The altitude of Hoch-Imst (1,053 m at the base, 2,026 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover through the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. At 47€, the day lift pass places Hoch-Imst among the intermediate resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Hoch-Imst does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underestimated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
