Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Solda focuses on friendly service and closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 40 km of runs are well suited to a 3 to 4-day stay, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. Solda's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a relaxed atmosphere around the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. In terms of snow, Solda is in a strong position with its summit at 3,250 m — even in capricious winters, the upper runs hold up well until April. The village at 1,900 m is also well placed to offer comfortable conditions from mid-December. The budget for a stay in Solda is clearly high: €60 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but it's worth being aware of this before you set off. In short: Solda doesn't compete with the giants of skiing and doesn't pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
