Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Kreischberg focuses on friendly hospitality and closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 42.5 km of runs are ideal for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly find new terrain. Kreischberg's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-organised childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Kreischberg's altitude (868 m at the base, 2,118 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it's worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. A stay at Kreischberg is clearly on the expensive side: a €68 day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the priciest in the Alps. It's the price of quality, but be aware of it before you set off. In short: Kreischberg doesn't compete with the giants of skiing, and doesn't claim to. It's an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
