Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Brunni (Engelberg) is a modestly sized, little-known resort — 8 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Brunni (Engelberg)'s family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Brunni (Engelberg)'s altitude (1,013 m at the bottom, 2,075 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow in the middle of winter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it's worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in Brunni (Engelberg) is clearly high: 51€ for a day lift pass, on top of which come accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence — but it's worth being aware of this before you go. In short: Brunni (Engelberg) doesn't compete with the ski giants, and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
