Skiing on a dormant volcano is an experience few French skiers have had. And yet the Massif Central offers authentic resorts with a character all of their own.
Le Lioran and the Plomb du Cantal
The largest resort in the Massif Central, with 60 km of runs. The Plomb du Cantal at 1,855 m offers breathtaking panoramas over the Auvergne volcanoes. An authentic village resort with its traditional burons.

Super Besse and the Puy de Sancy
The highest point in the Massif Central (1,886 m), the Puy de Sancy towers over Super Besse. Lake Pavin, a volcanic crater with waters of a mysterious blue, is only a few kilometres away.
Why go?
For the authenticity, the prices (€25–28 per lift pass), the Auvergnat cuisine and above all for something different. The Massif Central is mountain skiing without pretension.
